The publisher is an independent, nonprofit platform for stories and artistic work made by refugees.

Made by refugees

All the work shown on the website is made by, or co-created with refugees. In this way they have a voice and the opportunity to express their feelings and thoughts about the current situation. This can be published anonymously or by name.

For once we don’t want to write, create or film about refugees, but let them create and tell the stories. The publisher provides the right network to create artistic work and gives a stage to show it to the world.

Co-creation

To give the creative community among the refugees access to the Dutch artistic society, ‘The Publisher’ creates an environment where connections between Dutch artists and refugees can take place. In co-creation they can create work and content for the website, but within this collaboration it stays important that the refugee can tell his own story.

Creative

We focus on creativity among the people inside the refugee camps and centres in the Netherlands. With, for example, art, photography and writing we want to publish stories and create awareness among the Dutch public.

Change

One important goal of ‘The Publisher’ is to change the image of the refugee issue in Europe and The Netherlands. By providing honest information by first hand sources, the refugees themselves. Our goal is to inform the public better and start a positive and clear conversation.

Creating the future

We show society the opportunities that come with the current flow of young and willing refugees coming to the European continent. No sitting and waiting, but standing up and create the future together is the goal of ‘The Publisher’ and all its participants.
